At Bannister Honda we want your buying experience to be as straight forward as possible. We understand that our customers who are from outside of the Okanagan Valley, could have some questions regarding your purchase so we have detailed what you can expect from our dealership, and answers to our most common questions. If there is a question that you would like more detailed information on, one of our Sales Representatives are only a phone call or email away.

You will find us to be honest and upfront about every vehicle we show you. We will strive to exceed your expectations. We can forward you a CarProof, full reconditioning documents, mechanical inspection, extensive photos and video of each vehicle you may be inquiring about. Simply put, we disclose all information which is available to us, on to you.

You only pay the tax of the province in which you live.

If you live outside of B.C., we do not have to charge PST if the following criteria are met:

  • The Customer completes and signs a form FIN 440 (provided by us)
  • We, the seller are responsible for obtaining the identification necessary (photo copy) to ensure that an individual purchasing a vehicle is not a B.C. Resident. We must have two pieces of ID as proof of residency. Acceptable forms of ID are as follows:
    • Out of province Driver’s License
    • Out of province Medical plan card
    • Utility bill showing the address of service.
    • Vehicle registration. We cannot accept the vehicle registration and driver’s License together as it does not prove residency
    • NOTE… credit cards, social insurance cards or birth certificates are not acceptable identification.

If the customer is a resident of a province that has a PST (i.e. Saskatchewan, Manitoba, etc.) we only have to charge 5% GST if the customer is able to provide us the documentation outlined above. The customer will then need to pay their home Province tax (provincial PST) when they register the vehicle.

If the customer is a resident of a province that has HST (i.e. Ontario) we have two options.

  • Charge 5% GST. In this case the customer will need to deal with the additional tax due when they try and register the vehicle in their province
  • Charge the customer the applicable HST rate in their province.
If you would like to ship your vehicle, then we have that covered for you too. We deal with many trusted trucking companies which will take great care of your vehicle while shipping. We will supply you with a pre delivery check list before it is shipped, and again will forward you photo’s of the vehicle before it leaves our premises. Common pricing for shipping from Vernon are as follows, but we will forward you an exact price before the transaction is complete.
  • Calgary – $625
  • Edmonton – $725
  • Vancouver -$495
  • Regina – $935

Bannister Honda is located at 6425 Highway 97 N. in Vernon, B.C. We are nestled in the North Okanagan Valley, between Kelowna and Salmon Arm. Our central location means that we are only a short drive from many cities in B.C. and Alberta. Vernon is only a 45 minute drive from Kelowna where you will find an international airport with major airlines scheduling regular direct flights to Kelowna. Both Air Canada, and WestJet have regularly scheduled flights available. We will provide you with a prearranged driver to pick you up from the airport. We will also provide you with a complimetary one night stay at one of our local Vernon hotels, should you decide to purchase.

Most of our vehicles qualify for financing and because of the amount of business we do with our trusted partners we have access to competitive finance rates. Honda Financial Services, BMO, TD, General Bank, Scotia, RBC, and some Credit Unions.

I HAVE NEVER BOUGHT A VEHICLE WITHOUT SEEING IT HOW DO I KNOW THAT IT IS IN FACT IN GOOD CONDITION?

Bannister Honda is part of the Bannister Automotive Group which is one of the largest auto groups outside of the lower mainland and we will provide you with all of the information that you will need to make an informed purchase decision including Car Proof or ICBC accident report, mechanical report, and a full personalized video of the vehicle you are looking to purchase.

WHAT IF MY VEHICLE IS DAMAGED DURING SHIPPING?

Our shipping partners are fully insured and any new damages found after transport will be rectified. Your Sales Consultant will send you a final video walk around on your vehicle after it has been detailed and before delivery so you have record of the condition before it leaves our dealership. Our shipping partners are just that, partners, and we work together to ensure that you, our mutual client, are taken care of.

DO I HAVE TO GET AN INSPECTION ON MY CAR ONCE IT ARRIVES?

If your new vehicle is a pre-owned vehicle and is being shipped outside of B.C., then yes, it will have to have an out-of-province inspection. This low cost inspection is a formality to ensure that the vehicle you are bringing in meets the requirements of your province. Our reconditioning standards mean that the vehicle that you are purchasing will meet the requirements of your home Province. You will receive the service inspection of your vehicle via email and the printed copies will arrive with your vehicle.

WHAT DOES “CERTIFIED” MEAN AND WHAT DOES IT GET ME?

All major manufacturers have now committed to the re-marketing of their respective brands. For the Honda brand and our dealership it means attractive pricing, offering competitive sub-vented finance rates, warranty options, and confidence of our stringent inspection and reconditioning standards.

SO IF I AM NOT BUYING A HONDA DOES THAT MEAN I AM GETTING A SUB-STANDARD VEHICLE?

Absolutely not, we are dedicated to ensuring that we sell a quality vehicle no matter what the brand. Our entire pre-owned inventory has been fully safety inspected and reconditioned to the standards set by our dealership and our dealer group.

WHAT KIND OF FINANCE RATE WOULD I GET?

We work with a number of financial institutions to ensure that we get you the most competitive rate for the vehicle you are purchasing. A number of factors can affect what rate we can get, and our Financial Services Office will work diligently to ensure you get best rate for the vehicle you are buying. Honda Canada Certified vehicles may also qualify for special sub-vented rates through Honda Financial Services. Check with one of our Sales Consultants for current offerings.

WHAT KIND OF GUARANTEE OR WARRANTY DO I GET?

Depending on the vehicle that you are purchasing there may or may not be any remaining manufacturer’s warranty. For added peace of mind we offer and can tailor a warranty to your specific driving needs. Our Sales Consultants and Financial Services managers will work with you to ensure you are getting the proper and adequate coverage for your new vehicle.

DO YOU OFFER PROTECTION PACKAGES OR 3M?

Yes, as a full service dealership we offer many products intended to protect your new investment. 3M, rust proofing, undercoat, paint protection, leather and vinyl protection and window tint are all items offered through our dealership. These items can also be added to any finance or lease contract.
